Fenchihu Hotel

A very nice place to stay.

However, the mattress was not very good for me (a senior citizen with lower back issues). I don’t blame the hotel for this, but it’s worth pointing out.

The common area was great and the location is hard to beat!

The room had tatami mats which is fine but there were no chairs in the room for sitting. As a westerner, it would have been nice to be able to sit in the room without having to sit on the floor. Remodeling was going on and it did not seem like any western style rooms were available.

Awesome Japanese-style hotel with tatami mats, no chairs, chabudai, and free local tea from Shizhuo! Room was huge and toasty warm. Hotel offers tasty bento boxes and free seaweed soup. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. In lieu of breakfast, they give you vouchers to the 7-11 adjoining the hotel. Absolutely wonderful choice for Fenqihu, and my favorite hotel in Taiwan.

Super convenient location and uniquely situated above 7-11 and next to the only proper restaurant.

Everything is fine. I've stayed on three separate occasions.

Very clean Japanese style rooms; had a really nice view out the window to enjoy while while sipping on complimentary tea that was part of the room.

It was a spacious room.

There was a ton of mold in the bathroom. The beds were very firm and not comfortable for any of us.

Great location in Fenqihu. Pleasant staff. The 200NTD 7-11 vouchers were good for purchasing snacks and water.

The room was hot and stuffy, and the walls are so thin that I could hear my neighbors talking throughout the night.

Quiet but very hard to get a decent sleep. 1. The room was hot and stuffy despite using the air conditioning and fan. (There was no opening window).2. The room I stayed in was one of several rooms arranged around a central atrium. These rooms have glass panels on the wall next to the atrium (non opening. The light coloured curtains on these panels allowed a great deal of light to enter my room all night making it extremely difficult to sleep. If booking make sure to book a room with a window to the outside. The hotel could also look at getting black out curtains or using another means to darken the rooms effectively.

The hotel is in a great location and makes exploring Fenqihu and the surrounding areas very accessible.

I would have preferred to have a bed that was raised off the floor but I knew that was a feature of the hotel beforehand and was okay with it.

Despite the location in fenqihu and the hotel offering of lunch boxes and a 7/11, most of the shops in old town close before dinner and are mostly snacks anyway, so there isn’t much selection of places to eat. You have to drive 15 minutes to find more places. Also the hotel was very comfortable but outside the room it always smells like food cooking.

It's at a pretty central location in the town and the staff are happy to give recommendations on things to see or do. They also provide a seasonal firefly tour close to the town which was a huge draw for us.

Due to the humidity of the area, there is a damp smell all around, but you can see mould / moss growing in the bathroom. The rooms weren't cleaned very well when we stayed, I noticed some dried tea leaves on the ground and other bits and pieces of dirt. The price was higher than a 3 str hotel at Chiayi, most likely due to the captured market scenario at Fenqihu.

The room was spacious with a simple setup, and a fan and humidifier were provided, which was convenient. Breakfast isn’t included, but you get a NT$100 voucher to use at the nearby 7-Eleven, and if you go over, you just pay the difference. The location is great — just a short walk from the train station. Overall, a practical and convenient place to stay when visiting the area.

I think the stairways are quite 'dark,' and the door is locked with the use of a key.

Situated right in the heart of Fenchihu old street. Can get a lot of food by walking distance. Staffs are very polite

The check in time is 3pm, and the free tour provided at 3pm too. Due to this, i missed the session and have to explore the whole place in a painful way.

Pretty noisy. Quite hard to sleep hearing all the neighbours.
